This Cat 5e cable is great for wiring your Gigabit Ethernet or 100Base-T computer network. The PVC jacket bends easily and is easily removable for plug installation. Backwards compatible with Category 5 (Cat 5) cable, so you can mix this cable and Cat 5 cable in the same network. Plugs are suitable for use with solid or stranded wire. The spring loaded crimp tool has cushioned plastic grips, a wire/cable cutter, and replaceable blades and crimp dies. The tester is suitable for Cat 6, Cat 5e, Cat 5, and BNC cables and has a two-piece design so that you can test installed cables. The two pieces of the tester snap together for easy transport or storage. Each half of the tester has an RJ45 and a BNC jack.

It tested good with the cable tester right away.Hence my thought that the stranded wire makes assembly a bit easier. Like anything worthwhile it all takes time and patience. When inserting the 8 strands into the connector and pushing them home look carefully at the order the strands have seated. I litterally assembled 6 cables before I got one that would test complete. Don't just crimp away or you'll be wasting your time and cable ends.
However the variety of solid strand cable that is included makes assembly at the best a little dodgy. I assembled made a new connector end with the crimper. Things did get better with the solid wire as I continued practice and I found that there was good reason why the connectors are clear plastic. Check the color order first looking through the connector and then crimp. The crimping tool and the the cable tester to this kit are adequate and do the jobs they were designed.
After going through this I took a known store bought cable that worked fine, was made with stranded wire for each of the 8 wires, and cut off one of the J-45 ends. It is easy for the wires to get reordered as they are pushed into the connector end.
The toll and tester worked great. The wire is excellent. They give you 100 plugs, so I practiced on a few scraps of wire first. The hardest part is holding the wires in the proper order and pushing it into the plug in order. Buying ready made cables was astronomically priced, so I looked into this alternative. I needed to run a 100 foot Cat 5e cable through my house and needed several shorter pieces. I ran the cable wires and downloaded a color coded diagram of the wire setup for the connectors plugs. Once you get the hang of putting the wires in the plug it goes smoother with every new one you put together.
It's just your standard cable and crimper. But you a get a bunch of tips and the line tester tool is very helpful.
